The CLA (“We”) are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, that you provide to us or that we may receive from others about you will be processed by us when you visit (“our site”).   • Information you provide to us. You may give us information about you by filling in our membership forms or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you join as a member, subscribe to the services offered to our members, or enter a competition, promotion or survey.  The information you give us may include information such as your name, address, e-mail address, phone number and where relevant, financial information.

  • Information we collect from you. We may automatically collect information from you, for instance through your use of our website.   • Information we receive from other sources. We also work closely with our trusted partners (including, for example, selected business partners, sub-contractors in technical, payment and delivery services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers and credit reference agencies) and may receive information about you from such parties who have a legitimate basis on which to pass on your information.

How we use your information

We will use your information for the purposes that you would reasonably anticipate or that we have told you. We may also use information held about you for the following purposes:

  • to notify you about changes to your membership;
  • for the purposes of internal record keeping;

Sharing your information with outside parties

We may allow others access to personal information we hold about you:

  • as part of the process of selling or buying any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
  • if the CLA or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

Where we are making arrangements on your behalf we may need to pass your information to selected parties to conclude these arrangements. For example, to an insurance company to obtain insurance quotes.

We may combine information we receive about you from other sources with information you give us and information we collect from you. We may use this information and the combined information for the purposes set out above.

Marketing preferences

We may permit selected partners to contact you in any way (including mail, email or telephone) to provide you with information about goods or services we feel may interest you. We are committed to protecting the quality and integrity of your personal information. Exactly who sees your personal data depends on the context in which you provided it and the marketing preferences that you have specified. Access to information

The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
