This Briefing outlines the CLA's appearance before the House of Commons Hybid Bill Committee on 17th and 18th November. The CLA made substantial progress before the committee and enhanced their understanding on the impact on landowners, farmers and rural businesses. HS2 Ltd confirmed that they would not acquire land permanently that was only required temporarily, if the long term use was agriculture. The committee said that they would consult with both DCLG on replacement buildings and the Treasury Capital Gains Tax. HS2 Ltd committed to set up an alternative Disputes Resolution Service to look into all matters including advance payments, which was a huge step forward. The CLA appearance before the committee was just another step in our campaign, we will continue to lobby on behalf of our members both on HS2 and those affected by other schemes.
