Changes to the regulatory framework for abstraction and impounding licensing in EnglandWater is a major issue for many of our members across the East. Last year we launched our Water Strategy which is available here.
The Environment Agency is consulting on moving abstraction and impoundment licencing into the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR). This is additional to the separate consultation on the abstraction charging regime which the CLA has responded to here.
These changes will affect any members in England who have abstraction or impoundment licences or plan to obtain one in the future, imposing new conditions and responsibilities and changes to rights. If you are willing to share your views to help shape the CLA response, please contact alice.green@cla.org.uk.
For information on the changes please visit the Government website here.
