CLA East in the news
An update on media engagement in the East following the BudgetThe CLA has been speaking up for members’ interests in a range of media interviews following the Chancellors Budget.
Regional Director Cath Crowther has undertaken a vast range of regional media interviews outlets such as the East Anglian Daily Times, BBC online, BBC Cambridgeshire, BBC Lincolnshire, BBC Suffolk and many more.
CLA statistics highlighting the real impact that changes to agricultural property relief (APR) and business property relief (BPR) have been widely used in TV, radio and print media across the region.
Since the announcement, we have had around 2,000 pieces of coverage in national, trade and regional media as well as extensive radio and television appearances, advocating for our members and explaining the real-term impacts these decisions will have on farmers in England and Wales.
The CLA has also supported many CLA members who have undertaken media interviews to highlight the impact that announcements in the Budget would have on their farms.
“Engaging with the media is just one of the ways that we are raising awareness of some of the devastating news that was included in the Budget for our members,” says Cath Crowther. “We are continuing to make the case that proposed changes to agricultural and business property relief will put the future of many family farms at risk.
“Our political engagement at a local and national level is also incredibly important as we campaign against government decisions that are likely to be deeply damaging for British farming, land management, food security and environmental recovery.”
