Daniel Zeichner, the Labour MP for Cambridge and Shadow Minister for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, recently attended the CLA East Agricultural Roadshow in Norfolk to learn more about the CLA’s current priorities and also visited CLA members Graham and Veronica Downing (pictured) at their Farm in Suffolk.

Graham Downing said: “It was a pleasure to have Daniel visit us and hear about the work we are undertaking at our farm. With so much change in agricultural policy taking place, it is vital that all politicians understand the importance of supporting a profitable and sustainable farming industry now, and in the future.

“Farming in harmony with nature is a core part of modern agricultural practices and like so many other farmers and land managers, we are balancing the needs of maintaining a viable farm business whilst enhancing the natural environment and increasing biodiversity. Showcasing how we are doing this will, I hope, help everyone to understand how farming is supporting society in so many positive ways."

CLA Regional Director Cath Crowther Cath Crowther discussed a plethora of issues with Daniel during the visit including Environmental Land Management schemes, water management, climate change, soils, and issues regarding public access.
