Beautiful weather for a drinks reception

Midlands members enjoy the first drinks reception of the year at Melbourne Hall in Derbyshire
Melbourne Hall Gardens 2

The CLA Midlands team hosted a sell-out drinks reception, their first one of this year, on the evening of Friday 10th May, generously sponsored by PKF Smith Cooper and Brabners Solicitors.

Members travelled across counties to the picturesque Melbourne Hall, a historic house and gardens located in Derbyshire, and the cherished family-home of Lord and Lady Ralph Kerr.

To be able to sponsor such an event, at such a fantastic location with the kind permission of Lord and Lady Kerr was too good an opportunity to miss and I hope the guests got as much out of the event as we did at Brabners.

The evening started with guests gathering in the Billiard Room and a welcome from CLA Midlands Regional Director, Sophie Dwerryhouse, followed by an introduction from Lord Kerr.

Members enjoyed delicious canapes supplied by the on-site caterer and because the weather was so glorious, were able to take the opportunity to walk about the sweeping lawns and flower lined avenues of the formal gardens, networking and catching up with friends.

We had a very enjoyable evening at the Melbourne Hall drinks reception. It was great to meet fellow CLA members and discuss current affairs in such a beautiful setting. We were thoroughly impressed by the house and gardens and thank Lord and Lady Kerr for hosting and allowing us the opportunity to visit their home.

It was wonderful to see a variety of members, both familiar faces and new at a CLA event, and Melbourne Hall is such a fantastic location, it was a real privilege to be able to host our first drinks reception of the year there. Thank you to Lord and Lady Ralph Kerr and also our sponsors PKF Smith Cooper and Brabners Solicitors.
