CLA Elect new Staffordshire County Chairman

Landowner and agent Michael Eld, from Seighford, has been elected Chairman of the Staffordshire Branch of the Country Land and Business Association (CLA).

Michael comes from a traditional landed estate that has been in his family since the 16th Century and also acts as Managing Agent for the Earl of Harrowby.

In his role as County Chairman, Michael is particularly keen to champion the next generation of landowners, farmers and rural businesses and to increase their engagement with the CLA and its activities. Michael also has a keen interest in rural planning, the sustainable development of rural businesses and homes and Energy Efficiency.

Speaking about his role, Michael comments:

“Whether it be from Covid, Brexit or the war in Ukraine, our rural businesses and enterprises are currently facing existential challenges. It is imperative that our rural communities act in a strong and unified manner to ensure that the Rural Economy grows and thrives.

“The CLA is uniquely placed to put pressure on Government to try and ensure that the policies coming out of Westminster are well thought out and I feel that through the engagement of the CLA and its members we can make a difference to legislation that directly affects our communities.”
