HS2 Update
Find out the latest update from Midlands Rural Surveyor, John Greenshields
The new government has now been in post for several months and are looking to make a number of large strategic decisions. This includes deciding on the future of HS2 and any additional infrastructure.
It’s important for to avoid using quotes from papers or unofficial reports as a basis for policy decisions.
Unfortunately, there is no indication as to when the government will make a decision on the future of HS2, only that they will thoroughly review the position that they have inherited before setting out more detailed plans. This includes any future plans for HS2 Phase 2b safeguarding and a disposal programme for land and property acquired for HS2 that is no longer required.
The CLA is in contact with the Department for Transport on behalf of members to try to ensure that anyone affected will be treated fairly, including pushing for fair levels of compensation that is paid in a timely manner.
The CLA continues to firmly highlight the impact of temporary land take without compensation, as well as the financial and emotional toll of the HS2 project.
