On 1st November the CLA hosted a successful Residential Tenancy Seminar at Harper Adams University.

The afternoon event was a marvellous overview of the myriad of laws and regulations by Harry Flanagan, CLA Senior Legal Adviser and Avril Roberts, CLA Property and Business Policy Adviser.

They not only covered regulation, changes to items such as EPC's and the new ‘How to Rent’ guide but also examined some practical issues.

Such considerations included insulation top tips such as taking photos so you can provide them to EPC assessors, EICR cycles and different charges. With Harry and Avril also had a very interesting discussion about how they see the progression of the Renters (Reform) Bill.

We were also grateful to have had CLA member, Harriet Harvey presenting some practical solutions to help improve the quality and EPC rating of their properties. Solutions which may members will be looking at in order to meet the required minimum energy efficiency standards and generally improve properties for occupants.

The next event is on 21st November at Stanford Hall, Lutterworth, Leicester, LE17 6DH (to book please visit https://members.cla.org.uk/MY-CLA/Events/Event-Details/eventDateId/4198 ). We strongly encourage everyone with residential lets to attend or contact the CLA as residential lets are a complicated area.
