Natural England has on 8 October started a consultation on the proposal for a new Yorkshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This consultation will run until midnight on 13 January 2025, and members within the proposed geography are encouraged to respond.

There will be two farmer and landowner specific online webinars for CLA members and other rural stakeholder groups:

During these sessions Natural England representatives will explain the process which has been followed to assess ‘natural beauty’; to address the question as to whether designation is ‘desirable’; and the criteria they have used to determine a detailed boundary as well as explain how written responses can be provided.

It will also be possible to attend one of the face-to-face drop-in events as referenced on the project’s website. The events form part of the consultation process and will provide more detail about the proposals, alongside an opportunity to meet the project team.

Note: AONBs were recently rebranded as National Landscapes. Legally however, Natural England can only designate an AONB.
