CLA to meet Treasury to discuss future of inheritance tax plans
This week, the CLA expects an 'honest discussion' and a commitment from the UK Government as it joins industry leaders at the Treasury
Following extensive lobbying, the CLA, together with other industry leaders, has been invited to meet with ministers to discuss the government's current inheritance tax proposals.
The industry is aligned in its messaging that current reforms will decimate rural businesses throughout the UK without generating the tax revenue that the Treasury seeks. The CLA therefore looks forward to discussing what alternative options and solutions can be made to ensure stability for members and their enterprises.
Stay tuned for further details following the meeting on Tuesday 18 February.
CLA President Victoria Vyvyan said:
“We are pleased that the CLA and key stakeholders have been invited to talks with the Treasury about the farm tax."
We expect the Treasury to be ready for an honest discussion and then to make a commitment to solutions that avoid the damage that its current policy will inflict on farms and businesses
“The time has come to listen to our concerns and work with us so that growth and investment in the rural economy isn’t dented by hitting family businesses with catastrophic tax bills.”
