Grammy-nominated musician & award-winning farmer announced as CLA event guest speaker
Andy Cato, co-founder of Wildfarmed and one half of electronic duo Groove Armada, will be a guest speaker at the CLA Next Generation Conference and Dinner next monthAndy Cato, an award-winning mixed arable and livestock farmer, was inspired to buy a farm after reading an article about the environmental and health consequences of modern food production. A Grammy-nominated musician and one half of electronic duo Groove Armada, Andy sold the publishing rights to his own tracks to fund a farm in France.
He spent a decade trying to find a more restorative and sustainable way of growing food and was awarded the 2020 Laureate Nationale for innovation in agroecology and the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole. Now he farms as a tenant of the National Trust, Andy and his Wildfarmed colleagues are on a mission to help farmers move towards soil-focused farming, and make real food grown in real soil available on the high street at affordable prices.
Andy’s talk at the CLA Next Generation Dinner at Bradford Estates will chart his journey from France to the UK, the genesis of Wildfarmed and the support it offers farmers looking to transition from chemical-based agriculture towards biological systems.
Andy will also discuss Wildfarmed’s newly-released farming standards and the research and work that has gone into developing them, plus how Wildfarmed communicates soil health to a wider audience through working with high-street retailers and consumers.
Supported by Strutt & Parker, join your peers at the event on 26-27 April to discuss, debate and challenge future priorities for the next generation and come away inspired to implement changes for your rural business.
