The CLA has responded to a Call for Evidence by the Built Environment Committee on the impact of environmental regulations on development.

The CLA has responded to a Call for Evidence by the Built Environment Committee on the impact of environmental regulations on development. This was an opportunity for the CLA to make representations about the impact mitigation measures, for regulations such as Nutrient Neutrality and Biodiversity Net Gain, have on the viability of development. In our response we also comment on the challenges designations can present. In particular, the ability of rural businesses within designated landscapes to operate efficiently and not be hamstrung by overzealous restrictions. Finally, we comment on the inflexibility and lack of resource within the planning system to be able to deliver environmental regulations effectively.
