Consultation response on compulsory purchase process and compensation reforms

This consultation covers expansions of the powers to remove hope value and various other procedural and valuation changes

The consultation covered several topics regarding compulsory purchase. Its proposals included expansions of the powers to remove hope value under the Levelling Up and Regenration Act 2023, which we oppose, and also various other procedural and valuation changes. Most prominent among these is a proposal to reduce the Basic Loss Payment and increase Occupier’s Loss Payment. We oppose the former but support the latter and believe they should be considered as two separate proposals rather than one single one.
