Policy Statement on Environmental Principles

The Government consulted on the introduction into domestic law of five environmental principles, including the Precautionary Principle and the Polluter Pays Principle. Government Ministers will be required to have due regard to the principles when making future policy. The CLA response highlights the need for balance and proportion when applying the principles to policy-making.
