Invitation to CLA events at the South of England Show
Andrew Griffith MP our keynote speaker at show breakfastThe CLA is delighted to return to two of the South East’s biggest agricultural shows next month, and warmly invites members to join us.
We will be at the South of England Show from Friday, 10 June to Sunday, 12 June with a marquee and packed schedule of speakers, awards, breakfast, drinks and more.
On the first day of the show our marquee will have a ‘levelling up’ theme, with a breakfast and keynote talk from senior MP Andrew Griffith. Mr Griffith is MP for Arundel and South Downs, and was recently announced as the Director of the Number 10 Policy Unit. Members will hear his thoughts on the Government’s levelling up programme and in particular how it will impact rural communities and businesses.
The day will also see the return of our rural awards and drinks reception, celebrating the achievements of individuals, communities and businesses in rural Sussex. CLA Director General Sarah Hendry will present the awards from 3.30pm, with the winner of the President’s Cup nominated by Action in Rural Sussex, the Woodpecker trophy recipient chosen by the Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), and the CLA Rose Bowl given to the Sussex Young Farmer of the Year on behalf of Sussex Young Farmers’ Club.
On the second day our marquee – which once again is supported by Batcheller Monkhouse and Warners Solicitors – will focus on education and access, with the aim of promoting the Countryside Code. In 2021 the CLA teamed up with LEAF Education to produce resource packs for schools and youth groups to teach them about the code, and we will be bringing the packs to life on our stand by running a live workshop and games with children.
The breakfast and afternoon drinks/awards on the first day of the show are free for members, but must be booked in advance.
