Join us at the award-winning Romshed Farm for a tour and presentation of the CLA Emsden trophy, plus drinks and a light supper.

We will be crowning the 2023 winner of the Emsden trophy, which honours conservation efforts, on Thursday, 6 July, supported by BTF Partnership.

The awards presentation and drinks reception will be hosted by the 2022 recipient, Fidelity Weston of Romshed Farm near Sevenoaks.

The winner will once again be nominated by Kent Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG). Last year Fidelity (pictured above, with Paul Cobb of FWAG) was praised as a “shining example of conservation in the service of food production” and is well-known for working with others to spread positive messaging around farming and sustainable food practices.

The farm produces organic, Pasture for Life beef and lamb on species-rich land, and guests will be able to sample its produce at the event.

CLA South East Regional Director Tim Bamford said: “We are always thrilled to recognise the conservation and environmental efforts of farmers, and this year is no different. We’re also pleased to be visiting Romshed Farm, to see first-hand the impressive work they do, and I thank them for hosting the farm walk and presentation.”

The trophy is awarded in memory of Brigadier Brian Emsden, the Kent and Sussex CLA Regional Secretary in the 1980s who died of cancer in post. He was very keen on wildlife and conservation, hence the award in his memory.
