Natural England is currently considering whether to extend the boundary of the Surrey Hills AONB, and has launched a new consultation today (March 7).

To coincide, it is running an information event for CLA members at Denbies, Dorking on Thursday 16 March from 2pm to 4pm.

The meeting will form part of the consultation process and is planned to provide a further means of finding out more about the proposals and an opportunity to meet staff from Natural England’s project team and ask questions.

At this meeting maps and detailed technical information will be available which show a proposed new boundary. Natural England will also explain the approach it has taken to assess ‘natural beauty’; to address the question as to whether designation is ‘desirable’ and the criteria used to determine a detailed boundary.

Meanwhile the consultation will continue for a 14-week period, ending on 13 June.
