Members enjoyed a visit to Bignor Park in West Sussex this week, rounding off the CLA South East AGM season.

The sold-out event included a private tour of the house and gardens, with owner Lord Mersey.

The 1,100-acre Bignor Park Estate is situated in stunning surroundings at the foot of the magnificent South Downs.

Tucked away down a half mile long drive, it is majestic but with an understated style, and a quirky elegant charm, with spectacular gardens and stables.

The house was built in 1820 and now accommodates the 5th Viscount Mersey along with his wife and daughters.

With assistance from Natural England, they have embarked on an ambitious parkland restoration plan, they have also converted 600 acres of farmland to organic and are engaged in major conservation schemes to encourage wildlife.

The day was kindly supported by Savills and Chavereys.
