Avon and Somerset PCC Survey
PCC Mark Shelford wants to ensure he is listening to local people’s concerns and thoughts, and would like as many people to share their views on these draft objectives. On 6 May 2021 Mark Shelford was elected as the new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Avon and Somerset. You can find out more about what the PCC does.
One of the PCC’s statutory duties is to issue a Police and Crime Plan for the force area. This plan will include various aspects about policing of the area, how the Chief Constable will be held to account and how the PCC will use the money to deliver an effective and efficient police service and support other services such as victim support.
The PCC’s priorities and objectives are the cornerstone of a Police and Crime Plan. As the PCC is the bridge between local people and the police, it is essential that they consult with the public, including victims of crime, about their proposed Police and Crime Plan and direction for policing in the area.
PCC Mark Shelford published a clear manifesto during his campaign to be PCC and this manifesto continues to be the basis on which the following priorities and objectives were drafted.
These objectives will be grouped against Mark’s draft priorities which are:
- Preventing and fighting crime.
- Engaging, supporting and working with communities, victims and partner organisations.
- Leading the police to be efficient and effective.
- Increase the legitimacy of and public confidence in the police and Criminal Justice Service.
