CLA Dorset branch AGM announcements
The CLA South West recently hosted its Dorset Branch Annual General Meeting at Smedmore HouseThe CLA South West recently hosted its Dorset Branch Annual General Meeting at Smedmore House, by kind permission of Dr. Philip Mansel.
During the meeting, Paul Tory, Company Director at Fowler Fortescue, was announced as the new Branch Chairman, replacing Sophie Alexander who had presided over the committee since 2020. Sophie was presented with an Armada Dish for her service.
David Chismon, Partner at Saffrey Champness, was elected to take on the role of Vice Chairman whilst James Weld will continue in his role as President.
After five years serving on the committee, David Solly elected to retire this year. He was also thanked for his commitment and service.
CLA President Mark Tufnell joined the AGM, providing an overview of the CLA’s lobbying activities over the past year, as highlighting the structure of committees and services available within the CLA. In particular he touched on Government proposals to assist in future schemes and spoke of the Association’s continuing liaison with DEFRA. He felt that barriers were slowly being eroded away to assist landowners.
The AGM was attended by more than 60 members, and once the official business was concluded, members were given a tour of the Smedmore Estate, including Kimmeridge Bay. This was followed by drinks and canapes in the glorious gardens.
We would like to thank our partners Fowler Fortescue and Preston Redman Solicitors for their generous support of the Dorset AGM.
