Meet the CLA South West Team series - Sarah Fern
Get to know the people behind CLA south west in this seriesAs we have been unable to get out as much as we'd have liked over the past year, and with a couple of staff changes in that time, we wanted to give you the opportunity to get to know the team who works so passionately on your behalf.
Events and Partnership Manager, Sarah Fern
When did you join the CLA?
I joined in October 2005 after applying for the part-time administrator role but was convinced by John Mortimer to go for the full-time Events & Partnership Manager vacancy instead.
Tell us about your standard day working for CLA South West
I like that there isn’t a standard day and I am allowed a lot of flexibility to hold events and visits that I think CLA members will find interesting. I can be arranging a visit to a crisp factory one minute and securing a partnership deal the next.
What do you enjoy most about working at the CLA?
I enjoy the diversity of the role; providing members with something interesting outside of their day to day life to look forward to or that will help them with their business.
What’s a common problem that people in the industry face that you’d love to be able to fix?
To be able to take time off from the farm, have a holiday, and to feel able to retire gracefully and actively.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Archery, yoga, swimming, walking, cycling, kayaking, cooking, gardening, reading and lying in the sun on a beach somewhere!
