The Royal Cornwall Show is back for 2022 and so are we. We have a full programme of events!We are delighted to be back for the Royal Cornwall Show 2022 after a 2-year hiatus caused by the pandemic.
In addition to our Day One and Day Two breakfasts, we have a packed schedule on our stand.
CLA Stand - find us opposite the Members Pavilion
Join us on the stand to speak with the CLA Advisory Team, who will be available throughout the show period.
Members of the regional team will be available to talk about your queries. We are also pleased to welcome members of CLA national Land Use and Tax teams. Cameron Hughes from the Land Use Team joins us Thursday and Louise Speke, Head of Taxation will be with us Friday.
The CLA Marquee is a fabulous space to sit back and relax from the hustle and bustle of the show, our garden is a fine place to relax in the Cornish sunshine or in our tent to shelter from the rain. We’re here for all weather eventualities so come on in, pull up a chair and enjoy some Cornish fayre!!
Thank you to our stand partners Acorus and Further.Space for their generosity. From Acorus, James Whilding and Megan Masters will be available to discuss with you any planning, diversification and added value needs you may have. Further.Space will be on hand to talk to you about opening up unique pieces of land to establish amazing new micro-tourism glamping businesses.
We are also looking forward to welcoming Nadine Dorries, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to our stand on Thursday 9 June, at 2.30pm.
The Minister will talk more about the recent announcement from DCMS stating that thousands of people in rural parts of Cornwall are a step closer to getting lightning-fast broadband under the government’s historic £5 billion Project Gigabit.
Broadband companies have been invited to bid for £36 million worth of contracts to bring fast connections to 19,000 homes and businesses in many of the hard-to-reach areas of Cornwall. Work will commence on getting the infrastructure rolled out across the region - including rural communities in Land’s End and the Lizard Peninsula - from October this year.

CLA Charitable Trust Reception - Thursday 9 June at 5pm
We look forward to welcoming representatives from both the CLA Charitable Trust and Farming Community Network (FCN) for evening drinks and canapes on our stand. Bridget Biddell, Chairman of the CLA Charitable Trust will be talking about the great projects the Trust has supported over the years. With over £90k in grants issues for 2021 alone, CLA member contributions to the Trust are greatly appreciated. Funds are distributed to a wide range of organisations and projects that access the benefits of the countryside to pursue the health and wellbeing of people and to provide opportunities for education about the countryside in England and Wales.
We’ll also hear from Stephen Dennis from FCN on the important work this voluntary organisation and charity does in supporting farmers and families within the farming community. The CLA Team will be circulating the room giving you the chance to buy tickets for our raffle with the opportunity to win amazing prizes whilst raising much-welcomed funds for the CLA Charitable Trust and FCN.

Theatre sessions and workshops
Demystify diversification! - Thursday 9 and Friday 10 June at 11am
Join South West Rural Surveyor Claire Wright, who will be running a presentation on diversifying your business and looking to demystify what can be a diverse topic!
She’ll be giving her top tips on what you should consider when you’re planning to diversify your farm business and how to avoid diversification disaster! Whether you’re looking to branch out into holiday lets, a farm park or open a farm shop, come armed with your questions! You do not need to book for this session, just drop in at 11am
Agricultural Transition Workshops - Thursday 9 and Friday 10 June 2-3pm
We will be running workshop sessions with representatives from Defra to discuss the future farming programme. This will be an excellent opportunity to ask your questions and obtain advice from the experts.
On Thursday we will welcome Janet Hughes, Director of the Future Farming & Countryside Programme, Defra and on Friday Stephen Ayres, Programme and Policy Strategy Team – Future Farming and Countryside Programme, Defra will be available to answer your questions.
This is a drop-in session, however, to enable us to manage numbers effectively and to make sure you receive the best format for this critical discussion, we would appreciate notification via the Regional Office.
Treemendous! Forestry and Woodlands in Cornwall - Friday 10 June at 3pm
Graham Clark, CLA National Forestry and Energy Adviser will be joined by Geraint Richards, Head Forester at The Duchy Of Cornwall, Ben Norwood, F4C Project Officer and a representative from the Forestry Commission will be discussing what opportunities there are for tree planting, woodland schemes and the future of forestry in Cornwall. Graham will be joined by representatives from Cornwall to discuss Cornwall’s ambitious programme including the Forest for Cornwall initiative.
This session will be chaired by CLA Deputy President Victoria Vyvyan.
