Small Holders and Small Business

The Smallholding and Countryside Festival, held annually at the Royal Welsh Showground, is a key event that showcases the vibrant rural economy of Wales. This year, CLA Cymru took the opportunity to highlight the vital contributions of small businesses and members.

During the festival, CLA Cymru sponsored various events and received notable media coverage, including a feature on ITV with rural correspondent Hannah Thomas (pictured with Director Victoria Bond). Victoria articulated the critical role that the Smallholders and Countryside Festival plays in supporting small businesses, as well as highlighting CLA Cymru's efforts in providing advocacy, resources, and support to these enterprises. The festival serves as an ideal platform for small businesses to network, learn, and grow, offering opportunities to showcase innovations and connect with potential customers and partners.

“Rural workers generate significantly less per capita compared to their urban counterparts, indicating a pressing need for targeted economic support. Events like the Smallholders and Countryside Festival are pivotal in addressing this gap by stimulating local economies and fostering economic development”

Victoria Bond, Director CLA Cymru

Alignment with the Rural Growth Plan

In alignment with the Rural Growth Plan, CLA Cymru aims to boost rural productivity and growth through various initiatives, including increasing rural broadband access, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing rural tourism revenue. Our team of advisors are consistently working across these diverse elements of the economy to support our members

As CLA Cymru continues to support the rural economy, events like these, remain crucial in promoting a resilient and prosperous future for rural Wales. Looking ahead to the Royal Welsh Show next month, we will be hosting Business Hub events and also 1:1 workshops dedicated to helping support our small business members. Ensure you book these ahead of time as spaces are limited.
